Here you will find important recommendations and requirements to prepare for your visit to the
island. We want you to enjoy a magical and responsible experience, discovering
our culture, our landscapes, and the living traditions of Easter Island, also
known as Rapa Nui.
Requirements and documentation
To enter the island you need:
- Valid identity card or passport.
- Return air ticket, within a maximum period of 30 days of stay.
- Accommodation reservation in an establishment authorized by SERNATUR or invitation letter from a Rapanui resident.
- Single Entry Form (FUI) completed online before the flight (to be presented to the PDI at the airport).
Recommended clothing
The climate of Rapa Nui is subtropical and can change quickly. We recommend you bring:
- Light clothing (shorts, t-shirts, swimsuit, sandals).
- Trekking clothes (sturdy shoes, pants, jacket, and windbreaker).
- Basic accessories: hat, towel, sunglasses, and sunscreen.
When to travel
- Summer (Dec–Feb): high season, warm climate, ideal for enjoying the beaches and activities on Easter Island.
- Autumn (Mar–Jun): less crowded, more rain and wind, pleasant temperatures.
- Winter (Jul–Sep): cool and rainy climate, recommended for those looking for excursions in Rapa Nui with fewer visitors.
- Spring (Oct–Nov): mild temperatures, perfect balance between climate and crowds.
